Jose Yenque

(Miguelito/El Jefe) Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY,
Yenque is a student of NY theater. His most recognizable role was in
the Steven Soderberg film “Traffic” opposite Benicio Del Toro and
Jacob Vargas portraying a corrupt Tijuana soldier ‘The Torturer.’
Prior to Traffic, New Line Cinema’s “The Price of Glory” opposite
Jimmy Smits. He’s had the honor to work with his mother, Broadway
Stage Actress, Teresa Yenque in HBO’s “The Blue Diner.” Yenque
recently won The Imagen Award “Best Supporting actor” for his
performance in the movie “Between” opposite Poppy Montgomery and
Danny Pino which airs on Lifetime network. Film credits: “Punos
Rosas (Televisa)” with Isela Vega & Adal Ramones (west-coast
premiere at The 2005 San Diego Latino Film Festival) “I Believe in
America” with Melissa Leo. TV Credits: “Nip/Tuck,” “ER,” “Lincoln
Heights,” “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” “Without a Trace,”
“CSI: Miami,” “The X-Files” and was ‘Gabriel’ for 3 seasons on
Lifetime’s “The Division.” He also did the voice of villain
‘Copperhead’ on WB’s “The Justice League Unlimited” for the Cartoon
Network. In February 2007, Yenque was named “Ambassador of the Year”
by the State of California for his dedication to helping the
children of Casa Hogar Sion orphanage, Tijuana, Mexico.
Carlo
D’Amore

(Jorge Rodriguez, Father John, Freddy) Carlo most recently
appeared in his autobiographical solo play NO PAROLE at the
San Francisco Playhouse where he was awarded best solo performance
of the year and gathered rave reviews having his work compared to
the likes of Martin Scorsese and Pedro Almodovar. Other acting
credits include two seasons with the San Francisco Shakespeare
Festival, three productions at the legendary Magic Theater,
including two collaborations with Pulitzer winning playwright Nilo
Cruz. Four productions at Theater Rhino, including solo work in the
highly awarded Men on the Verge of a His-panic Breakdown. On
the New York stage Mr. D’Amore has performed in Broadway at the
Round About Theater Company in Tennessee William’s Summer and
Smoke directed by David Warren, and most recently in
Latinologues at the Helen Hayes Theater. Off and off-off
Broadway venues include The Lark, Urban Stages, Repertorio Espanol,
Ensemble Studio Theater, Manhattan Playhouse, Nada 45, The Theater
at Riverside Church, and Saint Veronica’s Church. Carlo is also a
member of “Building Houses on the Moon”. With this company he has
traveled nationwide, and was awarded The Craig Hardesty Award for
best male ensemble performance at the Columbus Ohio Theater
Festival. Carlo’s film and television credits include being directed
by Mr. Spike Lee for a project at “Forty Acers and a Mule” and “I
the Skinner” (Yo Pecador) in Bogotá, Colombia. Lead roles in Miles
Khan’s films: “The Tool” and Cannes Film Festival award-winner, “Fly
Trap” and Mario in Lion’s Gate feature film “State Property 2”
directed by rap mogul Damon Dash. His television debut was in the
critically acclaimed series “OZ” directed by Tom Fontana.
Rick Najera

(Eddy Valderama) Rick
Najera, an established playwright and award-winning
writer/actor/director/producer, is one of the most produced Latino
playwrights in the country. His nationally recognized Broadway play
Latinologues, ran for 137 performances on Broadway, a
historical achievement for a Latino-oriented show.
Najera is an award-winning professional Writers
Guild scribe, with credits including comedies such as “MAD TV” and
“In Living Color.” He has been honored twice by Hispanic Magazine as
“100 Most Influential Latinos in America” and is currently Vice
President of Development for LATV, a national, bilingual network.
Najera created and developed “The Homies Hip-Hop Show”, a cutting
edge comedy using the popular ‘Homies’ figurines, and is the first
nationally syndicated stop-motion animation series on the LATV
network. Najera is also co-creator and executive producer of the
“Ceasar and Chuey Show” on LATV.
Sweet 15 (Quinceańera)
is written and created by San Diego native Rick Najera and became an
instant hit when it made its debut as a workshop performance last
year at the REP. Najera will reprise his role as ‘Eddy’ in this
highly anticipated world premiere. This play is dedicated to
Najera’s greatest productions of all, his three children, Julian,
Sonora and Kennedy.

Nina Brissey

(Sonora Valderama) This is Nina’s debut at San Diego REPertory
Theatre. Nina is thrilled to be a part of the REP and such a
talented cast and crew. Some of Nina’s favorite credits include the
World Premiere of Necessary Targets at the Edinburgh Fringe
Festival, All My Sons, The Glass Menagerie, Twelfth
Night, The Grapes of Wrath and Electra. Nina was
also the Bosnian Dialect coach for Necessary Targets. She
recently graduated from Pepperdine University with a BA in Theatre.
Nina was also a member of PIT (Pepperdine Improv Troupe) and spent
the summer studying acting at Circle in the Square theatre school in
New York City.
Yvonne DeLaRosa

(Eva Valderama, Blanca) Colombian- American beauty,
DeLaRosa first hit Hollywood radar when famed comedy director, Betty
Thomas, saw her and cast her as the series regular lead in the 20th
Century Fox/ Regency pilot "Senor White" for the FOX network,
beating out every other Latina and Star name in Hollywood. Since
then she has been heating up the big and small screen and heralded
as the "Latina Lucy," by network executives. In just a few years,
Yvonne Delarosa has risen to be one of the most sought-after Latina
actresses in Hollywood. Jimmy Smits heralded her as part of “…the
new wave of Latino artists…” when she was honored at the National
Hispanic Foundation for the Arts (NHFA) by Smits, Esai Morales and
Sonja Braga as one of their rising stars. DeLaRosa's impressive Film
and Television credits include: Showtime's "Weeds", ABC’s “Eli
Stone”, CBS' “Shark”, CBS’ CSI Miami, and "Helter Skelter". Yvonne
is honored to be returning to her theatre roots and dedicates her
performances to her mother Marina, her husband, film maker, Sam
Boyer, their four dogs and her sister Michelle.
Fernando Vega

(Gilbert Cuervo, Fernando Cahuenga) is a 12 year REP veteran and
happy to reprise his role of ‘Fernando Cahuenga’ in Sweet 15.
Previous REP shows include the acclaimed Corridos REMIX
written by Luis and Kinan Valdez, the award winning bi-national
production of Nuevo California, The Merchant of Venice,
Buddy, the Buddy Holly Story in the U.S. and Canada, Working,
as well as principal parts in workshop productions of Sweet
15 (Quinceanera), Luis Valdez’s Earthquake Sun and
Calafia project Restless Spirits. Other shows include
ˇAy compadre! at Latino Theater Ensemble, Flags with
Artists For Intelligent Politics, The Taming of the Shrew at
Idaho Shakespeare, Pippin, Bye Bye Birdie, She Loves Me and
Joseph at Lamb’s Players Theatre and Man of La Mancha at
Welk Resort Theatre. Fernando Vega has been featured on many radio
stations across the U.S. as a classical, rock and roll or theatrical
singer, most notably on N.P.R. singing with Luis Valdez. Since he
was a child Fernando Vega’s ambition was to act on the Rep stages
and work with his now Compadre Sam Woodhouse. Fernando Vega credits
his earlier training to Dr. Jorge Huerta and San Diego Theater Guru
Craig Noel. Fernando Vega holds a BFA in Musical Theater and has
studied in London, San Diego and Tijuana.
Alma Martinez

(Chata Gomez, Stevie) Returns to San Diego REP having
appeared in Sweet 15 (workshop), Man of the Flesh,
Burning Patience and Mummified Deer. An Actor with El
Teatro Campesino since 1978, work includes Zoot Suit, La Gran
Carpa de los Rasquachis, El Fin del Mundo, Corridos (stage) and
Corridos: Tales of Passion and Revolution for PBS, I Don’t
Have to Show You No Stinking Badges and the NPR radio version of
Zoot Suit for LA Theater Works. On Broadway she has appeared
in In the Summer House and Off Broadway in Green Card.
Other theatre roles include, Electricidad, Green Card, Bocon,
and Zoot Suit, CTG-Mark Taper Forum; House of Blue Leaves,
Pasadena Playhouse; Fuente Ovejuna, Berkeley Rep.; the
Scottish play and Skin of Our Teeth, Oregon Shakespeare
Festival, Christmas Carol, South Coast Rep., Costa Mesa;
Anna in the Tropics, LA Theatre Works, Wait Until Dark,
Pennsylvania Stage, The Marriage of Figaro, Arizona Theatre
Company and ; Twelfth Night, San Jose Rep.; Film roles
include Zoot Suit, Under Fire, Born in East LA, Barbarosa, and
most recently Crossing Over due out next Fall. Alma holds a
Ph.D. in Drama from Stanford University, MFA in Acting from
University of Southern California and is currently a Professor of
Theatre at Pomona College.
